Challenges
Our customer came to us with a 2017 Audi RS6 in silver matte paint. He was looking for a way to protect the finish from damage that would affect the car’s appearance and be difficult and expensive to fix.
Matte finish paint poses a number of challenges, including the fact that scratches stand out more on a matte finish car. It is not possible to polish matte paint, as this creates a shine, defeating the whole appeal of a flat finish.
Due to the higher risk of damage to the paint, most manufacturers don’t provide additional warranties for a repaint. It’s also very hard to match the colour of matte finish car paint, making a respray very difficult and extremely expensive. This also has the effect of increasing insurance costs.
